Why I got into gardening :     30.1.20

I was kind of shocked myself when I got into gardening. I must admit that it was my husband who was and who is still very into gardening. He loves to design and build a garden and make a garden for you to sit in and explore. I myself love this too. But my entrance into gardening was that I choose to do the part of gardening that no one likes lol I began to do the weeding. At first it was a task and I had to talk myself into it! But as silly as it may seem doing the weeding is where it all began.

It gave me time to think about things and in some ways it took my mind off stuff. I began to get pride in my weeding and look at the difference in the garden I made just by weeding it. That first garden in my first house me and my now husband had bought together filled me with pride. By all means I was the labourer the one who held the wood making borders, the one who got the tools and screws. I would tidy up the mess from digging, use the wheel barrow to move stones and soil. I have to admit at the time I had never done this kind of thing and I did not enjoy it lol it was hard work! But I did enjoy planting out the garden and picking the plants and flowers at the local garden centre. It all changed when we moved to the house we are in now, our little dream house. I began to enjoy the weeding, and we got our first green house! We began to grow our own flowers from seed and I took on something I had wanted to do which was grow strawberries & tomatoes. I took pride in the fact that I could have grown these plants and that I actually could do gardening. My husband and myself build a border in out back garden, we had our greenhouse and a bench to sit on and take in the garden as it grew. That summer in 2017 I began to appreciate how great a garden was and how you could just sit and lose yourself on the garden. Looking at nature, butterflied, bees, Robins and blue tits. It was then I started to take interest in it all. I began to watch the beechgrove garden (which I love) and gardeners world. Which I have to watch every week and I hate when the series stop for winter. I'm glad I have got into it and now I'm scared but excited to be taking on a vegetable box and an alottment plot. Yes I am going to be learning as I go! Yes I'm sure there will be good things and bad times when things don't grow but it's all bout learning and trying something new and enjoying gardening 😊. Would. Love to hear your story if anyone wants to tell me about your garden and why you started gardening? Also my ne. On instagram if you want to follow me, is gardener nikki. 🌼🌹 Nikki x
