The benefits to your physical and mental wellbeing due to being outside and taking part in gardening are are absolutely amazing. I am really pleased there is a study being conducted into getting evidence of this. As I know for fact my husband who suffers from depression says the minute he comes outside and does the garden its like a weight being lifted off your shoulders. I myself didn't realise how theroputic gardening was until my husband started to suffer from depression. I used to laugh at my husband watching The beechgrove garden programme and I thought it was boring!
But now I love it and I can say that gardening is now one of my best hobbies. It has got me through some hard times with my husbands depression and helped me to keep going. I love nothing better than just getting out and pottering in the garden. I think everyone should have access to a garden whether you have a flat or a house because everyone deserve the right to be out in a garden and the right to an outdoor space.
